AS TOLD BY ITS FOUNDER

It all started with an instinct. A belief. When I created the Messika Maison in 2005, I was 22 years old. I realised that representations of femininity were changing and multiplying. I wanted to offer diamond jewelry that reflected the spirit of the free, confident women I saw appearing. I wanted to offer luxury jewelry to give them more confidence and the strength to take their ambitions even further.

A free, family-run Maison

Messika is one of the few independent jewelry Maisons founded by a woman and whose collections are still created by its designer, and I’m proud of that. We’ve been diamond experts since the 1970s, thanks to my father, but our youthfulness and independence have enabled us to retain a freedom that, as Artistic Director, is extremely precious to me. Each piece of diamond jewelrycarries my inspiration, a message, a piece of my story. There are no random creations at Messika.

Follow your instinct

There’s no better word to describe Valérie Messika than instinctive. The creator of Messika believes in her inner voice, which guides her inventiveness and inspiration. She knows the power of chance encounters, opportunities seized by intuition, and unexplainable beliefs. These are what have made Messika such a success. Where jewelry is often synonymous with codes and traditions, Valérie is revolutionising the industry by following her instinct, even if that means going against the grain. Freeing herself from conventions and offering creations that don't comply with any specifications... A rare creative force that she cultivates at every level of the Maison.

Where there’s family history and instinct, there's also great artistic sensitivity. In Messika Jewelry and High Jewelry, each creation carries a message, an emotion, a story. Whether it's the collections inspired by her daughters Move Noa and Move Romane, or those that tell the story of her passion for music, such as D-Vibes, Valérie Messika has turned her passion for diamonds into an exuberant, effervescent jewelry style. So much so that the symbolism of her jewelry sometimes takes on a more universal meaning, allowing everyone to make the piece their own and give it their own meaning.

Create with passion

Valérie Messika's avant-garde approach to jewelry is largely influenced by the fact that she grew up around precious stones. Her father, André Messika, was a leading figure in the international diamond trade. With her eyes full of legendary diamonds, Valérie Messika has made her way into the highly exclusive world of High Jewelry.

Jewelry, an object of self-affirmation

Valérie Messika has created her own signature style. Her jewelry and High Jewelry creations are imbued with her femininity, freedom and strong fashion sensibility. It's no coincidence that some of the world's greatest style icons, including Gigi Hadid, Kate Moss, Kendall Jenner and Carla Bruni, can be seen wearing her jewelry. Valérie Messika boldly gives diamonds new momentum and new ways of being worn. Each creation is a play on contrasts, light and movement.

AN AVANT-GARDE DESIGNER

My passion for fashion made me want to incorporate the idea of trends and self-affirmation into my diamond jewelry, just as you would find on a Haute Couture garment. I want diamonds to adorn women, to tell a story about their look and personality. That's how we pushed the boundaries to High Jewelry in 2015. Since then, we've been organising shows during Paris Fashion Week to showcase our most exceptional creations. We are also recognised as one of the major Maisons to have joined the official calendar of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.
