To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Messika explores a new innovative approach towards design materials, introducing Move Ciselé. A refined chiseled gold technique, which gives gold a vibrant texture and shine. The Maison revisits the iconic Move Noa and Move Classique pieces, reimagining them with a new textured finish.
Under the artistic direction of Valérie Messika, in-depth research has been conducted to achieve this new finish. Satin, brushed and sandblasted textures already exist, but the designer wanted to explore a new artisanal effect. Chiseled gold stands out due to its meticulous execution, where each notch is designed to add depth and a unique touch to each piece. Neither too smooth nor too uniform, this technique captures light and enhances the material.
A New Art of Relief
This meticulous work redefines the Maison’s codes and introduces a sculptural dynamic into the classics. Entirely handmade, chiseled gold is the result of impeccable craftsmanship. The jeweler first prepares the surface of the metal by polishing it with a diamond powder-coated bur. Then, using a fine chisel, they carve the material by controlling pressure, curvature, and angle. Each groove created perfectly captures the light. Layered in a manner similar to that of woven mesh, the notches form a pattern of raised and recessed shapes, giving each piece its own unique handcrafted identity.
Haute Couture Gold, A Defined Aesthetic
Like many of Messika’s designs, these new creations play on contrasts. Inspired by the world of Fashion and Haute Couture, dear to Valérie Messika, this textured effect evokes a silk velvet, a surface that subtly captures and reflects light. Move Noa and Move Classique designs are reinvented in this new texture, where sculpted gold brings contemporary sophistication to the Maison’s iconic designs. A gold with character that opens a new chapter for Messika.
