This year at the Baselword 2019, Messika unveils its new High Jewelry collection, Born To Be Wild. The Maison transports us into a Wild West atmosphere with a scenography that focuses on these new diamond jewelry creations overlooking a large log of wood.
Valérie Messika sees her pieces of Jewelry and High Jewelry as Haute-Couture clothing. Inspired by a woman for women, each diamond jewel is designed by thinking as much of its structure as the effect that it will produce once it moves on the body. Beyond jewelry, it is an attitude adopted by women wearing a Messika creation: that of a strong woman who is free and a daring adventurer.
Inspired by plumes, these traditional Indian headdresses with shimmering feathers, this year the famous designer is celebrating the sensual shapes of marquise-cut and pear-cut diamonds.
In the great tradition of the art professions, Valérie Messika works diamond feathers just like the great feather workers who lived through the golden age of French Haute Couture at the start of the twentieth century. The stones are assembled one by one in wise compositions to give life – figuratively – to wings with sparkling feathers.
With excellence for leitmotiv, a feather effect that pushes the designer to innovate by using a unique setting created by Messika, the feather setting. And using uncommon materials: wood, feathers etc. These are challenges all brilliantly achieved by the craftsmen of the “Atelier des Rêves”.
