Once Upon A Time
«For a mother, there’s no better time of day than sitting down to read to her children a bedtime story at night. It’s an opportunity for adults to dive back into the world of fairy tales; imaginary realms where magic and enchantment reign.
Combining my passion for diamonds with my love of fashion, I’ve re-written some of the tales that once enchanted me as a child, exploring their themes with a feel for ”couture”. Although inspired by the princesses of the past, these pieces take on an almost futuristic allure when worn by top model Sasha Pivovarova. A global icon with striking features and a fiery temperament, she represents my vision of a modern day heroine perfectly. Captured by the lens of the renowned photographer Katja Rawles, Messika’s High Jewelry takes on a hint of punk rock attitude, resolutely rooted in the spirit of our times. Working with this pair of powerful women, I’ve reinterpreted the stories of these ancient tales with an ultra-modern vision, and an avant-garde style inspired by the latest trends in top fashion.»
The Little Mermaid
Forever seeking inspiration in the world around her, it is the ocean depths that provide Valérie Messika with an outlet for her artistic vision. Each sharing a certain voluptuousness, movement and lightness, she has created 5 pieces showcasing the emerald cut. While this cut is often considered as a cold, somewhat rigid form of diamond, Messika has turned this on its head to make the emerald-cut the star of a stunning aquatic choreography, ebbing and flowing with grace and radiance.
Illustrating this marine world in constant movement, the designer pays tribute to the little mermaid, the heroine who gives up her precious immortality because of her love for the prince.
The Snow Queen
Valérie Messika transports us to the heart of an icy snowstorm, with 6 new pieces inspired by the breathtaking home of the Snow Queen. The pear cut, traditionally a round and indulgent shape, takes on a new power and strength to pay homage to the heroine of this fairy tale, who summons up her courage and valiance to free her hands from the icy clutches of the hypnotic winter queen. Arranged using the stacking technique with gorgeous movements reflecting powerful gusts, the pear cut dons a coat of ice to give birth to works of art.
The Arabian Nights
Valérie Messika takes us on a voyage through the Arabian Nights with 6 pieces influenced by oriental designs. She delights her audience in combining various diamond cuts, whose arrangements call to mind a stunningly star-filled night sky. In this imaginary world where light reigns supreme, the glittering diamonds illuminate the radiant skin of its heroines. With the sautoir necklace, earcuff and other new-wear pieces, Valérie Messika draws inspiration from the cunning heroine Shahrazade to create a series of items that are both playful and full of sensual desire.
The Bright Falcon
In this fairytale world of heat and desire, Valérie Messika has designed 5 fiery pieces created with an outstanding level of technical mastery. Blending various colours and cuts of diamonds, and using the innovative feather-setting technique (a half-setting concept studiously developed within Messika’s workshop to provide both flexibility and ergonomy), the 17 items in this collection pay homage to the determination of this tale’s heroine.
